The Green Business Fund for SMEs

Carbon Trust grantsThe Carbon Trust Green Business Fund is the brand new energy efficiency support services for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in England, Wales and Scotland. It provides businesses with various forms of directed funded support.

Examples of support include energy assessments, training workshops, and capital contribution of 15% of project costs up to £10,000 towards energy saving equipment purchase and installation. Workplace EV Charging

The Office of Low Emissions Vehicles is offering non-repayable grants of up to £6,000 towards the cost of installing workplace Electronic Vehicle (EV) charge points. This scheme offers £300 per socket, with a maximum of 20 sockets per business.

Installing EV charge points has a number of business benefits. Employees can save over £2,000 a year by choosing electric vehicles over petrol. By 2020, a business of 1,000 employees can expect to have 97 employees with an electric car, giving a business that has installed EV points advantages in employee retention and recruitment. In addition, many installation systems could allow employers to make a profit from this scheme.
